OLED screen refurbishment is a factory-grade process where a cracked outer glass is separated from an intact OLED module, cleaned, and rebonded with new glass. The result is functionally identical to an OEM pulled display at a significantly lower cost. iAssist performs this process in-house using a cold-separation laser and UV-curing optical clear adhesive.
Available from iPhone 12 onwards — the OLED module must be free of bleed, dead zones, green lines, or colour shift for the refurbishment to be appropriate. We assess the OLED before committing. On iPhone 15 and newer, the original paired components are preserved, avoiding any 'Important Display Message' or True Tone loss.
Cracked glass — display perfect beneath
Ideal refurbishment case. The OLED module is undamaged, only the outer glass is cracked. Laser separation and new glass bonding.
Cost-effective alternative to new OLED
Refurbishment typically costs 30–45% less than an OEM pulled or brand new OLED replacement. Functionally identical result.
iPhone 15+ — pairing preserved
Refurbishment preserves the original OLED and all pairing data. True Tone, ProMotion, and brightness calibration remain exactly as before.
Not suitable — OLED damaged
Any green lines, colour banding, dead zones, or bleed indicates OLED damage beyond the glass. Full screen replacement required.

The bonded OLED architecture from the 12 series onwards is suitable for cold-laser glass separation. Earlier OLED models (X, XS, 11 Pro) assessed individually.

iPhone OLED Screen Refurbishment — frequently asked questions
My iPhone OLED has a ghost of the keyboard — is that burn-in?
Yes — classic OLED burn-in. The OLED pixels degrade unevenly from displaying the same image at high brightness over time. It's most visible on white or grey backgrounds. Screen replacement with a new OLED panel removes it completely. Burn-in cannot be corrected with software.
What causes the green vertical line on my iPhone XS or XS Max?
A known manufacturing defect in a batch of XS and XS Max OLED panels. Appears without any physical damage — not caused by the user. Full OLED panel replacement resolves it.
My iPhone 14 Pro screen has gone green or yellow — is that burn-in?
A different fault: AB adhesive bonding the OLED panel to the frame dries and fails on 14 Pro series, particularly accelerated by Always-On Display. The frame lifts and the display flex oxidises. Screen replacement is required — this is adhesive failure, not burn-in.
Is an aftermarket OLED as good as an original Apple OLED?
Original Apple OLEDs provide the highest colour accuracy and True Tone performance. Quality aftermarket OLEDs are suitable for most users and cost less. We discuss options before you decide — both carry our 6-month warranty.
My iPhone 12 screen has a green tint at low brightness — is that the OLED?
A known panel characteristic on some iPhone 12 OLED units. Not a software issue — screen replacement resolves it. Not related to burn-in.
Will True Tone work after OLED refurbishment?
Yes — we transfer the True Tone calibration data from your original screen to the replacement as part of every OLED refurbishment. True Tone requires this data to function correctly.
Can burn-in be fixed without replacing the screen?
No. OLED burn-in is a permanent physical change to the pixel compounds. No software or setting corrects it. Full OLED panel replacement is the only resolution.
How long does OLED refurbishment take?
45–90 minutes for most models. iPhone 15 and newer: 2–3 hours for component transfer. We confirm timing at booking.
