How we do it
Glass-only screen repair — replacing only the outer glass while preserving the OLED panel beneath — is available on iPhone X onwards where the display is undamaged. The glass is separated from the OLED using a cold-separation laser, which cuts the adhesive layer without heating the display. A new glass panel is then bonded using optical clear adhesive under precise pressure.
Glass-only repair saves significantly versus full display replacement — in some cases 30–50% less than a new OLED assembly. The prerequisite is that the display shows no green lines, dead zones, pink tint, or backlight bleed after the crack. iAssist assesses the panel under bright light before committing to the procedure.
Cracked glass — OLED intact
The ideal glass-only case. Display still shows correct colours, full touch response, no lines or bleed. Cold-laser separation and new glass bonding.
Shattered outer glass — image still good
Heavy cracking but the OLED image is correct and touch is responsive. Glass-only is appropriate and cost-effective.
Glass only — need True Tone preserved
Glass-only refurbishment preserves the original OLED panel and its pairing data. True Tone, Face ID, and 'Important Display Message' are all unaffected.
Not suitable — lines or dead zones present
Green lines, pink tint, dead touch zones, or backlight bleed indicate OLED damage. Glass-only repair is not appropriate — full OLED replacement required.
iPhone 12 or older — no OLED lines
Older models are good candidates for glass-only where the OLED is intact. Repair is often highly cost-effective relative to device value.
iPhone 15+ — True Tone concern
