How we do it

The iPhone front camera — the selfie camera separate from the TrueDepth Face ID system — handles video calls, selfie photography, and portrait mode on front. It sits in the notch on iPhone X through 14 and behind the Dynamic Island pill on iPhone 14 Pro onwards. Front camera failure after a screen replacement is common when the camera flex is torn during disassembly by an inexperienced technician.

My front camera is blurry — is that software or hardware?

Usually hardware. Clean the front camera lens first (oils and smudges common). If blur persists — the module or connector is at fault. Free diagnostic confirms.

My iPhone 12 front camera was replaced elsewhere and Face ID stopped — is that fixable?

Possibly — JCID method can sometimes restore Face ID if the flex cable or a repairable component is the fault. If the IR camera was damaged, recovery depends on the specific damage. Free diagnostic first.

My selfie camera shows a pink or purple tint — what causes that?

Portrait mode uses TrueDepth alongside the front camera. If Face ID is intact after repair, Portrait mode continues to work fully.

How long does front camera replacement take?

My iPhone 8 front camera is blurry — is it the same risk as on newer models?

No — iPhone 8 and SE series don't have Face ID. Front camera replacement on these models is straightforward with no TrueDepth risk.

Can the front camera lens be replaced separately?
