iPhone Battery Replacement-Johannesburg, Pretoria & Gauteng
iPhone Battery ReplacementJohannesburg, Pretoria & Gauteng
🔋 OEM Grade · Same-Day · Decoded on iPhone 15+ · Swelling SafetyBattery replacement is the single most impactful repair for any iPhone over 3 years old. A degraded battery causes iOS performance throttling, short daily life, unexpected shutdowns, and heat during charging — all resolved with a quality OEM-grade replacement. On iPhone 15 and newer we use decoded batteries, preventing the 'unknown battery' message and ensuring accurate health reporting. For XR, XS, and XS Max: authorised service centres have discontinued these batteries — iAssist stocks them.
Silvamonte, Johannesburg — serving all Gauteng with R300 collection & delivery. Free diagnostic before any work begins.
iPhone battery capacity degrades with every charge cycle. Apple defines a healthy battery as retaining 80% of original capacity after 500 cycles — in practice most users notice meaningful degradation after 18–24 months of daily use. Symptoms range from unexpected shutdowns at 20–30%, to iOS throttling processor performance to manage reduced power delivery, to the battery physically swelling and pushing the screen off the chassis.
From iPhone 15 onwards, battery replacement requires component transfer to prevent the 'Service Recommended' warning in Settings. iAssist performs this transfer using JCID or Teslong programmers on every iPhone 15, 16, and 17 series battery replacement. iPhone 16 OEM batteries require decoded replacement cells — we advise on availability before any work begins.
Unexpected shutdowns above 20%
Battery unable to deliver peak current demand. iPhone shuts off to protect the logic board. Capacity check in Settings → Battery Health will confirm.
Swollen battery — screen lifting
Lithium-polymer cell expanding physically. A fire risk. Stop using the device immediately. Urgent safe removal and replacement required.
Battery drains in 3–4 hours
Capacity degradation below 70–75%. iOS no longer throttles below 80% but runtime becomes unworkable. Replacement restores all-day use.
Won't charge past 80%
Optimised Battery Charging holds charge at 80% until departure time is predicted. If it never goes above 80% regardless of time: battery or charging management fault.
iOS performance throttling
Settings → Battery → Battery Health shows 'Performance Management Applied.' Battery below threshold. Replacement removes throttle and restores full A-series performance.
Service Recommended message
Appears on iPhone 15+ after battery replacement without chip programming. iAssist uses JCID/Teslong to pair replacement cells and prevent this message.

How do I know if my iPhone battery needs replacing?
Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging. Below 80% is Apple's service recommendation. Symptoms: unexpected shutdowns, device feels slower, charges to 100% but drains fast, gets hot charging.
Will a new battery make my iPhone faster?
Yes — below 80% battery health, iOS applies performance throttling. Replacing the battery removes throttling and restores full processing speed. The device feels noticeably faster across all apps.
I was told authorised centres no longer stock XS/XR batteries — is that true?
Yes — Apple has discontinued battery supply for XS, XS Max, and XR from authorised centre supply chains. iAssist stocks OEM-grade batteries for these models independently. Same-day replacement available.
What is a decoded battery and why does iPhone 15 need one?
From iPhone 15 onwards, batteries are paired to the device. Standard replacement batteries show an 'unknown battery' message and may report health inaccurately. Decoded batteries communicate correctly with the pairing system — no warning, accurate health percentage.
My iPhone battery is swelling and the screen is lifting — what should I do?
Stop charging immediately. Do not compress the device. Bring it in as soon as possible — a swollen battery is a safety risk. We remove swollen batteries safely and assess any screen or frame damage.
How long does iPhone battery replacement take?
Same-day at our Silvamonte centre — typically 30–60 minutes. Models requiring screen removal first take slightly longer.
Does battery replacement affect my warranty?
Apple's warranty covers manufacturing defects — not wear from normal use. Third-party battery replacement does not affect your statutory consumer rights in South Africa.
My iPhone shows 100% health but still drains fast — what is that?
Battery health percentage can be inaccurate on heavily cycled batteries. We test capacity directly. Other causes: background apps, connectivity settings. We diagnose the actual cause before recommending repair.
