Very new model — parts still arriving

The M5 MacBook Air launched in 2026. Aftermarket parts are extremely limited. Screen assemblies, topcases, and batteries are not yet widely available from South African suppliers. iAssist will confirm part availability at diagnostic stage before booking any M5 repair.

Fanless design — same thermal approach

The M5 continues Apple's fanless MacBook Air design. The M5 chip is Apple's most efficient yet, with further thermal improvements over M4. Under typical workloads the M5 stays cool and fast. Sustained maximum-load compute (ML training, extended video rendering) may eventually throttle — this is by design, not a fault.

MagSafe 3 port

MagSafe 3 carries over from M4. Bent pins, lint compaction, and cable damage are the most common early port failure modes. Free diagnostic — bring in the machine and the charger cable for assessment.

Touch ID pairing after topcase replacement

Touch ID is Secure Enclave-paired on all Apple Silicon Macs. Topcase replacement breaks fingerprint authentication — Apple Configurator re-pairing is required post-repair.

Liquid damage — do not power on

Soldered, encrypted SSD means liquid damage recovery is entirely dependent on restoring the power path via micro-soldering. Switch off immediately after any spill, do not attempt to charge or power on, bring it in as soon as possible.

Screen protection strongly recommended
