Webcam not working or showing black screen

The MacBook Air webcam is integrated into the display assembly — camera, microphone, and ambient light sensor all route through the display cable. A damaged cable or failed connector inside the hinge causes webcam failure without any visible screen damage. If the display assembly is confirmed working but the webcam is still dead in System Information, the fault is board-level: a blown camera power fuse or failed camera controller IC on the logic board. Micro-soldering repair — not a display replacement.

Hinge damage — stiff, loose, or snapped

A1466 (2013–2017): hinge brackets are replaceable independently of the display. A1932, A2179, and M-series models: the hinge is integrated into the display assembly — hinge damage typically means full assembly replacement. iAssist assesses whether bracket-only or full assembly is required before quoting.

My MacBook Air screen is cracked but still works — should I still repair it?

Yes — a cracked screen on a MacBook Air is a progressive problem. More importantly, a cracked screen on an M-series MacBook Air can damage the keyboard below it when the lid is closed. Repair is strongly advised before the damage worsens.

Can just the glass be replaced on my MacBook Air, or does the whole display need replacing?

On MacBook Air 2013–2017 models (A1466/A1465), the glass and LCD are separate — a glass-only replacement is possible if the LCD is undamaged. My MacBook Air screen has a pink or green tint in one corner — what is that?
