What is the difference between the 2019 and 2020 for repairs?
The 2020 model includes a T2 security chip which encrypts all storage. If the logic board fails on a 2020, data recovery requires restoring the original board — the drive cannot be read independently. The 2019 model has no T2 chip and data recovery is more straightforward.
My 2019/2020 iMac has AMD GPU display artefacts — is it fixable?
Yes. AMD Radeon GPU solder joint failure is diagnosable and repairable at chip level. This is one of the most common faults on these models — logic board replacement the GPU die resolves it in most cases without board replacement.
Can I upgrade the SSD on the iMac 27-inch 2019/2020?

My 2019 or 2020 iMac 27-inch powers off randomly under load — is that the power supply or logic board?
Random shutdowns under load most commonly point to either the power supply struggling to maintain voltage, or a thermal protection shutdown caused by degraded thermal paste. Try an SMC reset first: unplug for 15 seconds, replug, wait 5 seconds, power on. If shutdowns continue, bring it in — we distinguish thermal from PSU fault during the free diagnostic before quoting anything.
Can I use any DDR4 SO-DIMM in my 2019 or 2020 iMac 27-inch?
The 2019 and 2020 27-inch iMac requires DDR4 2666MHz SO-DIMMs installed in matched pairs in the correct slot pairs for dual-channel operation. iAssist sources speed-matched modules confirmed for your specific model and installs them in the correct configuration. The 2020 iMac 27-inch has a nano-texture display option — does that affect repairability?
The nano-texture glass on the 2020 27-inch iMac is a special etched coating that cannot be cleaned with standard methods or replaced independently of the full display assembly. If the nano-texture glass is cracked or damaged, the full display assembly must be replaced. Contact us before booking if your machine has this option so we can advise on the specific handling required.
