Across every generation of iPad Pro, the two changes that matter most for repair are the port (Lightning through 2017, USB-C from 2018, modular Thunderbolt from M1 onward) and the display technology (LCD, then Mini-LED, then Tandem OLED from M4). A modular Thunderbolt port is a flat R2,500 swap; an older soldered or Lightning port needs micro-soldering — so identifying your exact generation before booking saves a wasted diagnostic trip.

Modular USB-C port damage — iPad Pro 2018+
iPad Pro 2018 onwards has a modular USB-C port on a daughterboard. Port can be swapped directly for R2,500 without micro-soldering. Faster and lower risk than soldered port repair.
ProMotion display cracked or damaged
iPad Pro 2018+ displays use ProMotion Liquid Retina — a full laminated assembly. Glass cannot be separated. Full assembly replacement required. We ensure Apple Pencil compatibility and Face ID sensors are preserved.
OLED screen damage — iPad Pro M4
The M4 iPad Pro (2024) uses a Tandem OLED display — the most advanced iPad screen yet. Replacement assemblies are at a premium. Assessment + quote before any M4 Pro screen repair.
Face ID not working
Face ID stopped working after a drop or repair. Usually caused by a damaged or disconnected TrueDepth flex cable. If the sensor array itself is damaged, Face ID cannot be fully restored — honest assessment before any work.
Charging IC fault — iPad Pro
No charging despite a good port and battery. Charging IC on the logic board has failed. Micro-soldering repair to replace the IC at component level.
Logic board fault — no power or crash
iPad Pro logic board faults including no-power, boot loops, and crash-on-wake. Component-level micro-soldering diagnosis and repair.
Lightning port — iPad Pro 10.5 or 12.9 1st/2nd gen
Older iPad Pro models with Lightning connectors have soldered ports. Micro-soldering repair to replace the port or damaged pins.

Is the iPad Pro charging port modular?
Yes — on all iPad Pro models from 2018 onwards (USB-C era). The USB-C port can be physically swapped for R2,500 without micro-soldering. iPad Pro 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch 1st/2nd gen have Lightning ports which are soldered.
Will Face ID work after an iPad Pro screen replacement?
Face ID relies on the TrueDepth camera system in the display assembly. We take care to preserve these sensors during screen replacement. If the sensors are undamaged, Face ID functions normally after repair.
Does iPad Pro have a ProMotion display?
iPad Pro 2018 onwards has ProMotion (120Hz adaptive refresh rate). This is a genuine ProMotion screen — replacement must use a compatible assembly.
What is OLED on iPad Pro M4?
The iPad Pro M4 (2024) was the first iPad to use an OLED display (Tandem OLED on 11 and 13-inch). It is significantly brighter and thinner than previous LCD models. Replacement parts are premium-priced.
What does iPad Pro modular port repair involve?
The USB-C port on iPad Pro 2018+ sits in a daughterboard that physically detaches. Port replacement involves removing the old board and fitting a new one — R2,500 and no micro-soldering required.
Can the iPad Pro be repaired if Face ID stops working completely?
If the Face ID sensor array (TrueDepth camera) has failed rather than a cable connection, complete Face ID restoration requires an Apple-specific pairing process. We are honest about this before repair.
What chip does iPad Pro M4 use?
The iPad Pro M4 (2024) uses the Apple M4 chip with hardware-accelerated AI and the same chip family as the MacBook Pro M4.
Is iPad Pro 12.9-inch Mini-LED worth repairing?
Yes. The M1 and M2 12.9-inch iPad Pro with Mini-LED (Liquid Retina XDR) is a premium device. Screen and battery repairs at a fraction of replacement cost make good financial sense.
How long does iPad Pro screen replacement take?
iPad Pro screen replacement requires more care due to the ProMotion display and sensor array. Typically 48–72 hours rather than 24 hours for simpler models.
Do you repair iPad Pro 1st gen 12.9-inch (2015)?
Yes. The original 12.9-inch iPad Pro uses a Lightning connector and a non-laminated display. Glass-only repair is possible on this model if the LCD is undamaged.
