The 11-inch Air line spans three very different port designs in just three generations — soldered USB-C on the M2 Air, modular USB-C from the M3 Air onward, and every generation supports Apple Pencil Pro. A soldered port needs micro-soldering; a modular one is a same-day R2,500 swap — so telling us your exact chip generation (M2, M3, or M4) before booking means we can quote the right repair method from the outset.

Glass-only repair — Air 1, 2, or 3
Non-laminated display allows glass-only digitizer repair if the LCD is undamaged. 3–5 days for OCA curing. Significantly cheaper than full assembly replacement.
Full screen replacement — Air 4 onwards
Fully laminated display from Air 4. Full assembly replacement in 24–48 hours. Glass-only repair using our OCA lamination machine also available for Air 4, 5, 6, and 7 — preserves your original Apple LCD. Takes 3–5 days.
Modular USB-C port — Air 7 M3 only
Air M3 7th gen has a modular USB-C port — direct swap for R2,500. Air 1–6 have soldered ports requiring micro-soldering.
Soldered charging port — Air 1 to 6
Lightning (Air 1–3) and USB-C (Air 4–6) ports are soldered. Micro-soldering to repair damaged pins or replace the full port socket.
Battery draining fast
All Air models show battery degradation with heavy use. Replacement restores full runtime and resolves iPadOS performance throttling.
Side Touch ID not working — Air 4 onwards
Top power button contains Touch ID on Air 4, 5, 6, and 7. A failed button affects both power and fingerprint — replacement restores both.
iAssist has a professional OCA lamination machine — we refurbish cracked glass on any iPad generation, keeping the original Apple LCD or OLED intact. Touch replacement also available on any model if the digitizer has failed. ⚠ Note: Very badly shattered glass can sometimes damage the touch layer during removal — we assess after glass removal and advise you before doing any additional work. Your Apple LCD/OLED is never at risk.

Which iPad Air models are 11-inch?
The 11-inch iPad Air launched with the M2 6th gen in 2024. Earlier models are technically 10.9-inch (Air 4, Air 5 M1) and 9.7/10.5-inch (Air 1, 2, 3) but all sit in the same Air family. We cover Air 1 through Air 7 on this page.
Does iPad Air 11-inch have a laminated display?
Air 4 onwards (2020+) have a fully laminated display — glass-only repair is not possible. Air 1, 2, and 3 have non-laminated displays where glass-only digitizer repair is available if the LCD is undamaged.
Is the iPad Air 7 charging port modular?
Yes — iPad Air M3 7th gen (2025) has a modular USB-C port that can be swapped for R2,500. Air 1–6 all have soldered ports requiring micro-soldering.
Where is Touch ID on iPad Air 4 onwards?
Air 4, 5, 6, and 7 have Touch ID built into the top/side power button — no Home button. If this button fails it affects both power control and fingerprint authentication.
Does iPad Air support Apple Pencil?
Air 1 and 2: no Pencil. Air 3: 1st gen Pencil. Air 4 and 5: 2nd gen Pencil. Air 6 M2 and Air 7 M3: Apple Pencil Pro. We use OEM-spec digitizer glass to ensure full Pencil compatibility after screen repair.
Can iPad Air 3 get a glass-only screen repair?
Yes — Air 3 has a non-laminated 10.5-inch display. Glass-only digitizer repair is available if the LCD is undamaged. Takes 3–5 days for OCA lamination curing.
What chip does iPad Air M1 use?
iPad Air 5th gen (2022) uses the full Apple M1 chip — same as the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13-inch of that era.
Is the iPad Air 4 USB-C port modular?
No. Air 4, 5, and 6 have soldered USB-C ports requiring micro-soldering. Only Air 7 M3 has the modular USB-C port.
How long does iPad Air 11-inch screen repair take?
Laminated assembly (Air 4+): 24–48 hours. Glass-only (Air 1–3): 3–5 days.
Is iPad Air 2 still worth repairing?
Yes. The Air 2 is slim and capable. Glass-only repair at low cost makes good financial sense versus replacement.
