Cracked glass — Air 1, 2, or 3 (glass-only option)
Air 1–3 have non-laminated displays. Glass-only digitizer repair is available if the LCD underneath is undamaged. Takes 3–5 days for OCA curing. Significantly cheaper than full assembly replacement.
Cracked screen — Air 4 onwards (full assembly)
Air 4, 5, 6, and 7 have fully laminated displays. Glass cannot be separated from the LCD. Full display assembly replacement required.
Charging port fault — Air 7 modular USB-C
iPad Air 7 M3 has a modular USB-C port — direct physical swap for R2,500. No micro-soldering required on this model.
Charging port fault — Air 1 to 6 (soldered)
Air 1–6 have soldered Lightning or USB-C ports. Micro-soldering repair to replace the port or damaged pins.
Battery draining fast or Service Recommended
iPad Air batteries degrade with use. Replacement restores full runtime and resolves throttling caused by low battery health.
Side Touch ID not working — Air 4 onwards
Air 4, 5, 6, and 7 have Touch ID in the top power button. A failed button affects both power control and fingerprint authentication.

Which iPad Air models have a laminated display?
Air 4 onwards (2020+) have a fully laminated display — glass cannot be separated. Air 1, 2, and 3 have non-laminated displays where glass-only digitizer repair is possible if the LCD is undamaged.
Does iPad Air 7 have a modular charging port?
Yes. The iPad Air M3 (7th gen, 2025) has a modular USB-C port that can be physically swapped — R2,500 for this repair. Air 1–6 all have soldered ports requiring micro-soldering.
Does iPad Air have Touch ID?
Air 1, 2, and 3 have Touch ID in the Home button. Air 4 onwards have Touch ID in the top/side power button.
Does iPad Air support Apple Pencil?
Air 1 and 2: no Apple Pencil. Air 3: Apple Pencil 1st gen. Air 4 and 5: Apple Pencil 2nd gen. Air 6 M2: Apple Pencil Pro. Air 7 M3: Apple Pencil Pro.
What chip does iPad Air M1 use?
iPad Air 5th gen (2022) uses the Apple M1 chip — the same chip as the base MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13-inch of that era.
Is iPad Air 3 worth repairing?
Yes. The Air 3 is a capable 10.5-inch device and repair costs are well below replacement price.
Can iPad Air 4 glass be repaired separately?
No. Air 4 uses a fully laminated display — the glass cannot be separated. Only full assembly replacement is possible.
How long does iPad Air repair take?
Screen and battery 24–48 hours. Glass-only (Air 1–3) 3–5 days.
Does iPad Air 6 M2 have a different port?
iPad Air 6 M2 has USB-C but a soldered port. Only Air 7 M3 has the modular USB-C port again.
