Apple Watch Series 7 Repair — frequently asked questions
Is it worth fixing my Series 7 at 4+ years?
Yes for most cases. Battery replacement at R1,400 plus charging coil at R1,200 = R2,600 total to refresh a Series 7. Compare to R5,000+ for a new SE 3 or R7,000+ for Series 10. Even a Series 7 needing battery + charging + Crown work (R3,900) is still cheaper than replacement. We tell you honestly if a specific case isn't economical.
My Series 7 battery and charging both seem bad — repair both at once?
Yes — and we discount when repairs are combined since case opening is shared. Battery + charging coil together is R2,500 (vs R2,600 separately). Both are common at 4+ years and routinely done together.
Does Series 7 still get watchOS updates?
Yes as of writing — Series 7 with the S7 chip still receives current watchOS. Apple typically supports devices for 4-5 years from launch, so Series 7 may have 1-2 more years of major updates before being superseded.
Why is glass-only repair so much cheaper than full screen?
Full screen replacement (R4,000) replaces both the glass and the OLED display. Glass-only (R2,500) only replaces the outer glass when the OLED is intact. About 60% of cracked screens have working OLEDs underneath — we test during diagnostic to confirm which path applies.
My Series 7 won't charge at all anymore — battery or charging coil?
Could be either, and they look identical from outside. Free diagnostic identifies the actual cause. If it's the charging coil (R1,200), we replace that. If it's actually the battery being completely depleted/dead (R1,400), we replace the battery. Sometimes both have failed and need joint repair.
Will my Series 7 still be water resistant after repair?
Honest answer: any opened Apple Watch has reduced water resistance vs factory new — and Series 7 seals are 4 years old to begin with. We use professional cold-press resealing to restore as much as practically possible. Splashes, rain, and hand washing remain fine. We strongly recommend avoiding swimming, surfing, hot tubs, and steam rooms post-repair.
Can I get an upgraded battery with longer runtime?
Series 7 batteries are designed to fit a specific compartment with specific voltage and capacity. We use OEM-grade cells matching original specifications — no higher-capacity 'upgrade' cell exists for this form factor. If you want longer runtime, hardware-wise that means moving to Ultra (36-hour) territory.
How long does Series 7 repair take?
Most Series 7 repairs are 24-48 hours. Battery and charging coil are usually same-day in Gauteng walk-ins. Combined battery + charging coil takes a bit longer (24 hours typical). Nationwide via The Courier Guy: 2-3 days door-to-door on overnight.
