The only thing we'd ask is that Find My iPhone is switched off, or that you know the Apple ID password, so we can test the repair without it locking against activation.
Is there an Apple Store at Fourways Mall, or just a reseller?
Just a reseller — South Africa has no Apple-owned retail stores anywhere in the country, only Apple Premium Resellers. iStore does have a store at Fourways Mall (Shop NG24), a legitimate option for buying new Apple products or an in-warranty repair on a very recent device. Board-level faults — charging IC failure, logic board damage, liquid damage past a surface wipe — aren't something Apple Premium Resellers generally handle in-house, though. Will an independent repair here void my Apple warranty, or put my data at risk?
No on both counts, generally. Apple's 2017 policy update means a third-party screen or battery repair only voids Apple's cover on that specific repair, not your whole warranty — and further charges would only apply if the repair itself damaged another part of the phone. We use OEM-grade parts throughout and add our own 6-month warranty on every job. Your storage chip isn't touched during a screen, battery, or most board-level repairs, so photos and apps are unaffected — though we'd still suggest a quick backup beforehand, just as a precaution.
