Can I upgrade the RAM in a 2018 Mac mini?
Yes. The 2018 (space grey, T2 chip) uses standard DDR4 SO-DIMM memory and can be taken to 64GB. It needs full internal disassembly — workshop work, not a bottom-panel job — but it is one of the best upgrades you can make to this model.
Can I upgrade the SSD in a 2018 Mac mini?
No. The 2018’s storage is soldered to the logic board and controlled by the T2 security chip, so it cannot be enlarged or replaced as an upgrade. If you are short on space, a fast Thunderbolt 3 external SSD is the practical route, and we can set that up for you.
Why does my 2018 Mac mini run hot and slow down?
The 2018 packs powerful Intel chips into a small enclosure with a single blower. As the factory thermal paste dries out it throttles hard under load. A thermal service — fresh paste and a blower clean — restores sustained performance for R2,500.
Does the 2018 need OpenCore for a new macOS?
No. The 2018 still receives current macOS natively, so there is no need for OpenCore on this model. OCLP is only for the older 2012 and 2014 machines.
My 2018 died after load-shedding — can you fix it?
